Aurora Food Pantry Drive Results Are In and…

The Food Drive facilitated by the Baha’i Community of Aurora was a great success!

The Community dropped off the items pictured below at the Aurora Food Pantry right before Thanksgiving to help out those in need.

“Oh, friends of God! If ye will trust in the Word of God and be strong; if ye will follow the precepts of Bahá’u’lláh to tend the sick, raise the fallen, care for the poor and needy, give shelter to the destitute, protect the oppressed, comfort the sorrowful and love the world of humanity with all your hearts, then I say unto you that erelong this meeting-place will see a wonderful harvest.”

Social Action Committee Helping to End Hunger with Community Support

At the beginning of autumn, the Social Action Committee (SAC) asked its community members to help end hunger in Aurora by donating fresh produce, vegetables, and perishable foods to be delivered to the local food bank. SAC members organized the collection of the over a dozen bags contributed by many donors (pictured below). The generosity of the community goes a long way in helping families facing difficulties during the pandemic.

(Video) Junior Youth Camp Highlights

In late July, York North (Aurora, Newmarket, and surrounding areas) hosted an in-person/hybrid junior youth camp designed for youth between the ages of 11-15 years old. Each year, the camp provides a rich environment for spiritual education and a precious opportunity for the animators and junior youth to come together. Since the pandemic, the camps have been mostly virtual. However, following Ontario Safety Guidelines, the coordinator took the opportunity to conduct in person gatherings. The junior youth read passages out of books, engaged in musical activities, and carried out service projects.

JY camps provide a growth opportunity and a chance to expand horizons. If you know someone interested in attending next year, contact us.

Virtual Devotionals (Feb 2021)

Photo by Pegleess Barrios from Burst

The Ayyam-i-Ha (or Intercalary Days) are a period of time when Bahá’ís focus more than usually on hospitality, charity, giving gifts and preparing for the month of fasting. The Ayyam-i-Ha are of four or five days’ duration.  They are the days that fall outside the nineteen months of nineteen days that make up the Bahá’í calendar.

During the month of February leading up to the Ayyám-i-Há, community members gathered virtually for daily prayers and meditation. These meetings were sponsored by The Baha’i Community of Aurora.

Like-minded souls are invited to attend future interfaith gatherings.
